About Mid-South Equine

Mid-South Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery, located in Tioga TX, was founded by Dr. R.A. "Tony" Rocconi in 2015. Dr. Rocconi and his staff are dedicated to the well being and success of your horses. 

 

Mid-South Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery offers a wide range of services to keep your horses healthy and happy. From our conveniently located Tioga TX clinic, we offer lameness examinations, diagnostic imagery, regenerative therapies, orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, as well as reproductive services and overall general health.

Dr. Rocconi is a 2003 graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary medicine where he served as class president. After graduation he went to work at a busy race track to practice servicing the racing throughbreed industry. He then moved on to Ocala, FL where he worked for 4 years on young throughbreed race horses in training, reproduction, and sales work. He subsequently moved to Aubrey, TX where he pursued his passion for lameness and surgery. Then Dr. Rocconi entered the Equine Surgical Residency at MSU-CVM - a 3 year program where he also obtained his Master's Degree in Veterinary Science. After completing his residency, he moved back to Texas and now owns and operates Mid-South Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery.

Associate Veterinarian

Nancy Aronoff was born and raised in California and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a BS in Animal Science in 1975. She moved to Kentucky and was a farm manager on thoroughbred horse farms until 1990 when she entered Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated cum laude in 1994. From 1995 to 2001, Aronoff worked at Hagyard Davidson McGee Veterinary practice (now Hagyard Institute) in both the medicine and surgery facilities. In 2001, she worked for Dr. David Hartman, managing the lab, international frozen semen shipments, and worked with broodmares and foals. Upon Dr. Hartman’s retirement and dissolution of the practice, Aronoff joined Mid-South Equine in September 2019. Each fall she travels to Maui to visit her sister and enjoys anywhere with water and woods.

Having joined the practice in the spring of 2018, Dr. Pate distinguished himself by his commitment to exceptional care for his patients, his humor, kindness and patience to their owners. Having originated from West Point MS, he attended MSU-CVM and then moved to Texas for his internship at Outlaw Equine. Once he joined the Mid-South Equine team, his interest and aptitude for Sport Medicine kept growing and now occupies most of his time and his main area of focus. Dalton recently became engaged to Darby Slope and spends his down time roping and watching Darby compete in Barrel Racing.

Veternary Internship

Dr. Lensey Watson graduated from Mississippi State University College
of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2021, where she was the AAEP Vice President and worked in the
Equine hospital. She is currently an intern at Mid-South Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery. Watson has a particular interest in lameness and surgery which drew her closer to this
practice and she is excited to be able to continue to grow her knowledge and experience with the mentorship from Dr. Tony Rocconi and Dr. Dalton Pate. In her free time, she enjoy being outdoors with family and friends.

Veterinarian

Rebeca Fayad Delazari is a veterinarian from Brasil. She graduated in 2015 from UNIP - SP. Following graduation she worked for Equivet in Brasil for one year as an Intern. She then traveled to America to do a 1 year Internship at Weems and Stephens in Texas. Delazari has been with Mid-South Equine for the past 4 years. Her goal is to acquire her US license in veterinary medicine. In her free time she likes to train CrossFit and do outdoor activities with her husband and dogs.
